May has been MOLTEN HOT Randy Jackson style with new music
(and some overflow from April)
Where to start? I'm sorry I haven't been logging in lately....May was busy!
(in NO particular order!)
My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges - (they're experimenting a little but me likey)
Phantom Planet - Do the Panic - (Caaaaaliiiifoooorniaaaa it's not - Jason Schwartzman is gone but they keep on....)
M83 - Graveyard Girl - (this song is their most digestible ever - for you!)
N.E.R.D. - Everybody Nose - ("all the girls standing in the line for the bathroom..." Pharell will get you moving...)
Flight of the Conchords - Ladies of the World - (any song that shouts out to Presbyterian ladies and calls all soldiers to put down their weapons and pick up a woman is awesome - "sweet 16 not M-16, brunettes not fighter jets...." - the funny boys of HBO have a full album, now)
The Last Shadow Puppets - Standing Next to Me (Alex Turner's Arctic Monkeys side project is finally released)
The Ting Tings - Shut Up and Let Me Go - (I liked "Great DJ" better, but this is the song that Apple chose for their iPOD mess - so whatevs...they're both great songs)
James Pants - Finger On the Knife (wacky rump shaking from Portland or Seattle - I think?)
The Black Ghosts - Anyway You Choose to Give It (remix) - more shake shake shake - it's one of those summers....
Coldplay - Violet Hill (thank goodness - it's not another speed of sound....)
Nine Inch Nails - Discipline (I know, I know - no one really digs this action, but Trent is GIVING the whole new album- The Slip - away for nothing on his site - much like M83, NIN has never gone down SO smooth)
The Hold Steady - Sequestered In Memphis (they were at the Hi-Tone with the Thermals last spring 500 yrds away from our place writing this song - Lucero is duetting on this one, so Memphians salivate - I could care less about Lucero (sorry, Gasp!) - THS is sounding less like the 'mats and more like old Wilco on this one.....)
Mates of State - My Only Offer - (whit and I's favorite husband/wife duo bring it on home)
Jeremy Jay - Airwalker - (the boy is channeling Lou Reed)
Beck - Chemtrails (Beck with Danger Mouse? don't tease - trippy stuff here, but I expect a full eruption on the album, Modern Guilt, later this year)
