Saturday Night Lame

Wow! We watch nearly every SNL each week thanks to DVR, but I stayed up last night to watch the boys of Fleet Foxes. Yikes. That was one of the worst SNLs I have seen in a long time. I feel bad for the band as many people probably never got to see them, because they couldn't get through the horrible skits. On the bright side, FF killed. "Blue Ridge Mountains" was excellent. As far as the show, maybe they could have done some more racially sensitive skits with host Rosario Dawson. How many different ethnicities (Arabic, African-American, Hispanic) did they have her play, and how many Latino skits were there? It wouldn't be bad, except they were not funny. "Giiiiiiiiilllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.......!". Even Kristen Wiig couldn't save the show.

We did enjoy the Guantanamo Bay Liquidation Sale.

Fred Armisen's Latin band leader always makes me laugh, but that's about it.

All in all a great show....

I'm juuuust keeeeeeding!
Ay Dios Mio!

Agreed. FF should have just played the entire 1.5 hours. I thought all the racial skits were TAC-KY! More Jason Sudeikis as Ricky Gervais please!

I think they're too wedded to the format. From what I understand(from Seth Meyers on Bill Simmons Podcasts), the entire process of writing a show is really grueling. It's apparently really hard for 15 funny people to turn out a funny product in one week.

I'd be perfectly happy if they put in way more filmed stuff (the digital short is consistently the funniest thing anyway) and cut the skits to about half their present length. GIIILLLY would have made me chuckle with Will Forte's voice and Kristin Wiig's face if the whole thing were 30 seconds to a minute.
